| ■ | A well maintained and recently serviced 4X4, with low-range gearing |
| ■ | Quality all-terrain tyres in good condition, and a compressor for airing up |
| ■ | Good ground clearance, and adequate underbody protection |
| ■ | Spare parts and fluids, as appropriate for your make of vehicle |
| ■ | Not less than 20L additional diesel, and double that for petrol |
| ■ | A minimum of 10L water, and a first aid kit equipped for bleeding and burns |
| ■ | Sleeping bags and a tent, we recommend a quality canvas roof-tent, well secured |

| ■ | If using a conventional tent, you will need stretchers / mattresses and a groundsheet |
| ■ | Lightweight camping chairs are a necessity, as is a basic travellers picnic kit |
| ■ | Shovel, loo paper, and the usual bathroom necessities |
| ■ | Passports and current vehicle registration document, which should be in your name |
| ■ | Fully comprehensive medical and vehicle insurances, including for repatriation |
| ■ | Warning triangles and greencard document |
| ■ | Good quality maps: Michelin or Rough Guide |
| ■ | Sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and suitable protective clothing and footwear |
| ■ | Innoculations, as recommended by your GP |
| ■ | Your own driving snacks and drinks, which can be purchased in larger villages |
| ■ | Tupperware and wet-wipes, both really useful, as are head torches |
| ■ | Local currency in small denominations, for souvenir shopping, strictly not for handouts |
| ■ | All vehicles must be equipped with a CB radio, for essential communications en piste |
